THE CASH VALUE OF MOTORWAY POLLUTION

A SURVEY CARRIED OUT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF A RECENTLY COMPLETED SEGMENT OF LONDON'S RINGWAY 1 IS DESCRIBED. THE OBJECT OF THE SURVEY WAS TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH THE MOTORWAY POLLUTION WAS WORTH TO THE PEOPLE ACTUALLY SUFFERING FROM IT. ON THIS BASIS, THE CASH VALUE OF THE POLLUTION WAS FOUND TO BE VERY SMALL COMPARED WITH THE ESTIMATED TRAFFIC BENEFITS OF THE MOTORWAY. /TRRL/
