Effect of TNL Congestion Control

High-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) is a cost-effective upgrade to the third generation partnership project (3GPP) Rel-99 universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) technology to fulfill the current mobile user demands that grow exponentially day by day. It is an asymmetric solution that enables higher downlink throughput to the end user. High data rates and low latency are key aspects of technical development for HSDPA. Several enhancements to UMTS R'99 were considered and are specified in 3GPP Rel-5 and 3GPP Rel-6 [1]-[5]. This article provides a brief overview about the HSDPA simulation model, as well as related theoretical background on the congestion control (CC) algorithm and selected CC schemes for simulation analysis. Traffic models, simulation scenarios, and simulation results and analysis are also given.
