APPLYING NETWORK FLOW ANALYSIS

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE APPLICATION OF NETWORK MODELS IN SOLVING DIVERSE AND COMPLEX PROBLEMS IS PRESENTED. PRIMARY EMPHASIS IS ON NETWORK FLOW MODELS, DETERMINISTIC OR STOCHASTIC, HAVING A DETERMINISTIC EQUIVALENT. THE MODELING IS DONE USING STATIC MODELS. THE DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS ARE GENERALLY INCLUDED BY REPRESENTING THE TIME PERIODS AS NODES, OR BY LETTING EACH TIME AND PLACE BE A NODE. THE TRANSPORTATION PROBLEM WAS ONE OF THE FIRST NETWORK FLOW PROBLEMS, APPLICABLE TO MANY TYPES OF SHIPPING AND DISTRIBUTION PROBLEMS. /DOT/
