ALBERTA HIGHWAY LOCATION METHODS

THE PROCEDURES AND STEPS INVOLVED IN COMPLETING A STUDY AND LOCATION SURVEY ARE OUTLINED OF A TYPICAL ROAD PROJECT. EMPHASIS WILL BE PLACED ON THE PHOTOGRAMMETRIC PHASE OF THE WORK IN ORDER TO COMPARE METHODS WITH PROCEDURES USED PRIOR TO THE USE OF PHOTOGRAMMETRIC METHODS. USE OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY HAS LED TO NEW METHODS REQUIRING MUCH LESS TIME AND INVOLVING MUCH LESS FIELD WORK THAN FORMERLY, WHILE STILL PRODUCING RESULTS AS GOOD AS, OR BETTER THAN BEFORE. SOME COSTS, TIMES, FACTS AND FIGURES INVOLVED IN THE PHOTOGRAMMETRIC PHASE OF A TYPICAL PROJECT ARE GIVEN. /CGRA/
