Kenyan Cyclists Out-Ride the Taxis

Although local government failed to acknowledge non-motorized transportation users when planning highway transportation, bicycles still are proving to be more flexible and faster than public transportation, such as taxis (matatus), on Nairobi, Kenya's main arterials. This may have both civic and economic repercussions. Investment in non-motorized transportation infrastructure, as well as safety, security, and the advantages of bicycle travel, are discussed by the author. An insert details the research process for this project.
