The Pavement Performance Models of Sao Paulo State Regional Airports

This paper describes how one of the main stages in a pavement management implementation process is the pavement performance models definition. The aim of this research is in the development of a definition of a pavement management system that is applied to the maintenance of regional airport networks. As a part of the study, this paper presents the results of the pavement performance models developed for the DAESP (São Paulo State Airport Agency) pavement database. It has 31 paved airports and the pavement network was divided into unit sections that may have homogeneous performance according to three traffic levels and pavement structures. Historical registry of the pavement condition and management, plus an engineering judgment on functional conditions of the pavement sections units were used to define a condition rate which was related to the pavement condition index (PCI). Moreover, the actual condition for the DAESP network shows the results of the management procedures and the design solutions efficiencies.
