Sao Paulo Flood Warning System (SPFWS)
Sistema de Alerta a Inundaçoes de Sao Paulo (SAISP)
The Sao Paulo Flood Warning System (SPFWS) is a non-structural measure for flood control measures and is based on a real time monitoring system (weather radar and telemetering network) that processes hydrological and meteorological forecast models, generating flood warnings in critical conditions. The resulting data and information are available, via internet, for several users, like, civil defense commissions, cities and airport administrations, hydroelectric power companies and other. The SPFWS also allows the ability to monitor and foresee several phenomena of interest for the aviation, such as precipitation, wind, etc. This information is extremely important for supporting the airports with more security, regularity and operational efficiency.
