Environmental Impacts Related to Airport Sites, Mitigating Measures and Environmental Programs
Impactos Ambientais Associados Aos Sítios Aeroportuários, Suas Medidas Mitigadoras E Programas Ambientais
This paper describes how airport operation is a key issue to solve the problems related to national security and economic integration in continental countries like Brazil. However, it can cause serious damage to the environment and threaten the sustainable development of the region where the airport is located. The process of choosing an airport site should be done using a methodology that considers environmental issues. The main objectives of this paper are to identify the most important environmental impacts related to the determination of the airport site and to suggest mitigating measures and monitoring programs.
