THE RELATION OF WATER, RAIL, PIPELINE AND AIR TRANSPORTATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LAKE ERIE AREA.

THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE GROWTH OF INDUSTRIALIZATION IN THE AREA OF ONTARIO JUST WEST OF WELLAND CANAL WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE WITHIN THE NEXT THIRTY YEARS, AND THE TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES WHICH WILL BE REQUIRED TO MOVE WORK FORCE, RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED PRODUCT. THE PRESENT TRANSPORTATION NETWORK IS BRIEFLY ANALYSED SHOWING UP ITS INADEQUACIES TO HANDLE THE NEEDS OF A MORE HIGHLY INDUSTRIALIZED AREA. THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS SYSTEMATIC RESEARCH OF THE AREA TO BE DONE ON A STAGED BASIS, THE FINAL STAGE BEING THE DESIGN OF AN OPTIMUM TRANSPORTATION NETWORK WHICH WOULD MEET ITS FUTURE NEEDS. /RATAOC/
