ONTARIO TO PAY OPERATING COSTS OF COMMUTER LINE

CANADAS FIRST EXTENSIVE COMMUTER RAILWAY SERVICE, OPERATING ON RAILS FREED BY THE NEW MARSHALLING YARDS IN TORONTO, WILL BE INAUGURATED IN THE TORONTO, HAMILTON, OSHAWA, DUNBARTON, BURLINGTON AREA. IT WILL BE OPERATED BY THE CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILWAY SYSTEM, BUT THE ONTARIO GOVERNMENT WILL PAY THE ENTIRE COST OF EQUIPPING AND MAINTAINING THE LINE, THE DEFICIT BEING IN THE ORDER OF $2-2.5 MILLION ANNUALLY. /CGRA/
