Some Aspects of Road Traffic Emissions and Air Pollution in Slovenia

This paper is concerned with air pollution from road traffic in Slovenia. A short review of the historical development of automotive emission control devices is briefly described. Characteristics of particular pollutants are specified and consequences of their emissions for air quality in Slovenia are indicated. The comparison of emissions from spark ignition (gasoline) and compression ignition (diesel) engines is shown. Possibilities of greenhouse gas reduction in Slovenia are also discussed.
