Developments of a Noise Reduction Device for Shinkansen Sound Barriers

This article describes a noise reduction device designed to reduce noise resulting from increased speeds of Shinkansen high speed trains. It describes full-scale model tests conducted with the noise reduction devices installed on multi-diffraction and interference sound barriers. It also describes results from vibration, strain, and repeated loading tests, as well as tests in snowfall regions, all designed to test the structural nature of the devices.
