The 36th ICAO Assembly: Setting the Course for the Second Century of Flight

In this article (Paragraph No. 25,411) the 36th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) met from September 18-28, 2007, and it set a bold course for the next three years. The author notes that 179 Contracting States, 41 observer organizations, and about 1500 delegates convened at the ICA headquarters in Montreal. On September 17, a high-level meeting of transportation ministers was held to declare their support for a Comprehensive Safety Implementation Plan for the Africa Region, which was later approved by the assembly. The author presents the highlights of the Assembly in this article.
