Moving object detection using onboard monocular camera

A system that provides safety and convenience to drivers through onboard cameras is described. This paper proposes an algorithm method that detects moving objects while the car is in motion. The proposed method is based on an image converted into overhead view and an image difference method using the movement amount obtained by an onboard sensor. Furthermore, by analyzing the shape of the area detected through the image difference method, the shadow area changed due to host vehicle movement is removed. Experiments show that the proposed method is effective under the real-world conditions. For the covering abstract see ITRD E140665.
