PROGRESS TOWARD A FREEWAY CORRIDOR MODEL

THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE INITIAL STAGES OF DEVELOPING ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR EVALUATING DESIGN AND/OR CONTROL IMPROVEMENT PLANS ON A FREEWAY-CORRIDOR BASIS. IT DESCRIBES THE PROPOSED STRUCTURE OF THE FREEWAY-CORRIDOR MODEL AND THE FIRST GENERATION VERSION OF A MAJOR ARTERIAL STREET MODEL (CALLED THE MART1 MODEL). VIEWS ON CONTROL STRATEGIES AND DESIGN IMPROVEMENTS ARE INTRODUCED WITHIN THE CORRIDOR FRAMEWORK. PLANS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH ARE INCLUDED. /NTIS/
