RESECTIONING AND SCALING PROGRAM FOR PERSPECTIVE PLOTTING

A COMPUTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO COMPUTE THE POSITION, ORIENTATION AND FOCAL LENGTH (SCALE) OF OBLIQUE TERRESTRIAL PHOTOGRAPHS. THIS COMPUTATION, WHICH IS KNOWN AS RESECTION, IS BASED ON THE KNOWN X, Y, Z COORDINATES OF AT LEAST THREE POINTS ON THE GROUND WHOSE X AND Y COORDINATES HAVE ALSO BEEN MEASURED ON A PHOTOGRAPH. THIS PROGRAM IS USED IN CONJUCTION WITH A BATTERY OF THREE OTHER COMPUTER PROGRAMS THAT ARE CAPABLE OF PLOTTING PERSPECTIVE VIEWS OF HIGHWAYS FROM DESIGN DATA. THE RESECTION AND SCALING PROGRAM PROVIDES THE NECESSARY DATA TO THE PERSPECTIVE PLOT PROGRAMS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PHOTOMONTAGES WHICH CONSIST OF THE GRAPHICAL PLOT OF THE DESIGNED HIGHWAY BEING SUPERIMPOSED ON A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE TERRAIN THROUGH WHICH THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY IS TO BE LOCATED. THE REPORT INCLUDES A FORTRAN IV PROGRAM SOURCE LISTING, USER INSTRUCTIONS AND EXAMPLE PROBLEMS.
