EFFECT OF CHANGES IN SCHEDULED SPEED ON BUS OPERATING COSTS

THE REPORT DISCUSSES THE EFFECT OF CHANGES IN THE SCHEDULED OPERATING SPEED OF LONDON TRANSPORT BUSES ON OPERATING COSTS VARIOUS COSTS ARE DETAILED AFTER AN INCREASE IN SPEED FROM 11.6-14MPH ON THE EXISTING FLEET AND AFTER A REDUCTION IN SPEED FROM 10.5-9.1 MPH AND A ONE-MAN OPERATION SYSTEM. A METHOD OF ESTIMATING CHANGES IN THE NUMBER OF SCHEDULED BUSES REQUIRED IS GIVEN IN APPENDIX 1,WHILE APPENDIX 2 CONTAINS INFORMATION ON FACTORS AFFECTING BUS OPERATING SPEEDS. /TRRL/
