TRAFFIC ENGINEERING AND TRAFFIC PLANNING STUDIES FOR THE FEDERAL GERMAN MAIN ROAD NETWORK

AFTER DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM AND THE METHOD OF WORK USED IN THE STUDY THE AUTHORS ANALYSE THE FOLLOWING FACTORS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO THE STRUCTURE OF TRAFFIC: THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAFFIC, STRUCTURAL DATA, REGIONAL CALCULATIONS, TRANSPORT NETWORKS, TRAFFIC GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION, FUTURE TRAFFIC REQUIREMENTS, AND THE VOLUME AND DISTRIBUTION OF WEEK-END TRAFFIC. FORECASTS OF WEEKDAY AND WEEKEND TRAFFIC AND OF ROAD FREIGHT TRANSPORT ARE WORKED OUT FOR THE YEAR 1990. DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH TAKE ACCOUNT OF TRAFFIC REQUIREMENTS ARE GIVEN FOR THE PLAN.
