FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF THE REGINA TELEBUS DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

A DEMONSTRATION PROJECT CONDUCTED IN REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA PROVIDES ON-CALL DOORSTEP PUBLIC TRANSIT FEEDER SERVICE, 18 HOURS PER DAY MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY, AND 7 HOURS PER DAY ON SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS TO 30,000 RESIDENTS LIVING IN A MEDIUM INCOME AREA OF THE CITY. SERVICE BEGAN IN 1971 IN AN INITIAL TEST AREA OF 2 3/4 SQUARE MILES USING 6 BUSES. THIS REPORT DETAILS THE COSTS AND REVENUES OF THE TELEBUS SYSTEM AND EXAMINES THE FINANCIAL EFFECT OF TELEBUS SERVICE ON THE OVERALL TRANSIT SYSTEM, PRIOR TO EXPANSION OF THE SERVICE AREA IN JUNE 1972.
