MARKETING AND ECONOMIC STUDY OF THE PORT OF TAMPA FOR TAMPA PORT AUTHORITY

The study reports a comprehensive marketing and economic assessment of the Port of Tampa. The objectives of the market assessment were to identify the factors that have tended to both increase and decrease the Port of Tampa's participation in the general cargo market; determine the potential of the Port of Tampa to participate in segments of the general cargo market, and identify a market strategy for the Port Authority to secure elements of the general cargo market most appropriate for the port. The Port Authority working with the private sector can develop a program geared to attract a significant share of the market segments. A vigorous marketing effort could result in a shift of substantial volumes of cargo to the Port of Tampa. Also in the report is a historical perspective of general cargo activity at the Port of Tampa.
