TRENDS IN CALIFORNIA TRANSIT LABOR CONTRACT SETTLEMENTS

The report documents transit operator wage rate increases in California between 1970 and 1976 in comparison to the consumers price index (CPI) increases. It concludes that operator wage rates in California follow national trends and are increasing faster than CPI. It documents the findings resulting from a literature review pertaining to the transit labor contract settlement process, trends in transit wage rates, and possible government roles in the process. Details of these findings and references to the author's publications are included.
