HOW THE AIRLINES WILL COPE WITH DEREGULATION

This article examines many of the probable changes U.S. airlines will make as a result of deregulation of the industry in October 1978. Some trends mentioned are reduced rates and discounts, the elimination of monopoly routes, a reduction in the frequency of flights, and several tentative mergers between smaller trunk carriers. The article includes diagrams of the 11 trunk lines route structures, and explains each line's upcoming plans for coping with deregulation.
