SELECTION OF DRILLING METHODS AS A FUNCTION OF GEOLOGICAL DATA

WAHL DER BOHRMETHODEN UNTER BERUECKSICHTIGUNG DER GEOLOGISCHEN GEOGEBENHEITEN

The objective of a detailed study of deposits of raw material forcement is to characterize the rocks in a representative way as regards quality and quantity. To obtain the accuracy needed today in such a study, drilling methods must be used. Two parameters are of primary importance in drilling operations: the experience of the team and the judicious selection of a drilling method. The type of method is determined by local data such as the geology, tectonics and topography of the rocks studied. The textural properties of the rock to be drilled and its position in relation to the water table level have the greatest influence whatever method is used: drilling by driving, drilling with sampling, core driving, helicoidal drilling, rotary core drilling. /TRRL/
