ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF BINS IN CRUSHING AND SCREENING SYSTEMS

This is a translation from Russian into French done by the LCPC (LCPC 78t13). The article analyzes three types of bin which markedly influence the operational regularity of crushing and screening plants. The three types described are: (1) receiving bins which contain the rock material from the quarry to the crusher at the first stage of crushing; (2) accumulation bins used to compensate technological defects; (3) storage bins utilized in "crushing-grinding" or similar plants. As regards bins of type (1), the influence of the bin capacity on the probability of stopping the supply of material to the crusher at the first stage of grinding, was studied, taking into account the shape and rate of flow of lorry-mounted shovels. Calculations were carried out by means of computer statistical simulation. For bins of type (2) only a system with a single storage bin was studied. General formulae are given which define the influence of the bin capacity and of the practicability of the equipment sub-systems on the probability of perfect operational behaviour and on the rate of flow of the whole system. For bins of type (3), estimates were made of the probable upper limit at which the bin will overflow as a function of its capacity and of the irregular flow of the rock material. /TRRL/
