RENFORCEMENTS DES BETONS ET DES MATERIAUX PIERREUX PAR LES RESINES POLYMERIQUES - 1ERE PARTIE - SYNTHESE

This article reviews the investigations carried out up to the present day to develop new composite materials and in particular asbestos-cement impregnated with vinyl resin. The open porosity of the stone markedly influences its technological characteristics. To remedy these defects inherent to the microscopic structure, resins were added by various methods, one of which was impregnation. The realization of these composite materials by means of impregnation is the most spectacular improvement to the field of concrete and aggregates made during the last few years. Impregnation gives high-performance materials with improved appearance and resistance to bending, corrosion and wear. The study of the technological characteristics of these new materials is described in the following issue. /TRRL/
