This article describes the application of synthetic resins to the construction of the upper layers of pavements (in particular roadbases). The mixing of aggregates and resin results in a material far more permeable than gravel-cement but having a similar bearing capacity; the thin resin film protects the aggregate from physical and chemical attacks. Details are given of tests carried out on gravel-epoxy and gravel-polyester samples, and of their results. All tests carried out on gravel-resin samples showed that failure of the samples was due to the failure of aggregates and not to that of tje film coating them. /TRRL/
