ELECTROMAGNETIC TECHNIQUE USING CURRENT FOCALIZATION

PROCEDE ELECTROMAGNETIQUE PAR FOCALISATION DES COURANTS

The authors examine the possibilities offered by electromagnetic methods for detecting undergound cavities. In the first part of the article, tables are used to theoretically demonstrate that the dipole-dipole magnetic method is not very efficient because small variations in the thickness of a silty cover create abnormal phenomena, the value of which is far greater than that of anomalies caused by cavities. In part 2 an attempt is made to improve the technique by field focusing: the electromagnetic field is corrected by a field induced by a secondary loop controlled by the main loop. Details are given of the principles of the method used to locate conducting cylinders and of the main results of the theoretical study. /TRRL/ abstract, see IRRD abstract no 107028.
