The scope of this guide is basic reinforced and prestressed concrete construction for structural purposes, executed on site. It deals with the following aspects: (1) formwork and falsework. Allocation of responsibilities, design, erection; (2) concrete - materials and mixes. Cements, aggregates, water, additives and admixtures, concrete mixes; (3) reinforcement - types and sizes, supply, transport and storage, cutting, bending, joints and welding, fixing; (4) prestressing - materials and their protection before tendon installation, precautions during tendon fabrication, installation, site tensioning, protection of steel and anchorages; (5) concrete mixing and handling. Batching and mixing, transport, placing and compacting, joints, curing, concreting at high and low temperatures; (6) concrete finishes - types and quality of finish, repairs; (7) precast concrete production. Site and plant, production, handling and storage, transport, erection, connections and joints; (8) tolerances; (9) quality control - concrete ingredients, reinforcements and mixing and placing of concrete, in-situ concrete, prestressing steel, tensioning of tendons, grouting of tendons, complete structure. /TRRL/
