SUMMARIZING THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIBRATORY ROLLER APPLICATIONS FOR COMPACTING BITUMINOUS MIXES IN THE USA

Vibratory compaction of flexible pavements in the U.S. was a sequential development of vibratory compaction of base and sub-base materials. The purpose of this paper is to relate the significant historical trends of this development and the major influences which differentiated vibratory compaction of flexible pavements from that of non-bituminous materials.
