MIXED METHOD OF ANALYSIS FOR VEHICLE STRUCTURE

A method of predicting crash response of vehicle structural system is evolved from a combination of two previously validated techniques, namely: (1) hybrid impact simulation technique and (2) dynamic elastic-plastic analysis of thin-walled frame with large deformation and local buckling. For the purpose of validation of the method, a barrier impact of an automobile is modeled and the numerical results obtained are found to be in good agreement with experimental data.
