PREPARATION-, DRYING- AND MIXING-PLANTS FOR BITUMINOUS ROAD CONSTRUCTION

AUFBEREITUNGS-, TROCKEN- UND MISCHALAGEN FUER DEN BITUMINOESEN STRASSENBAU

The high performances achieved in the laying of bituminous wearing- and base-courses are determined by two factors: A high degree of mechanisation in the laying process and the development of preparation-, drying- and mixing-plants which allow the manufacture of required mixes precisely in accordance with the specification using automatic processes with a high hourly performance rate. Great flexibility is necessary since mixes for wearing courses and surfacings must be produced in the same plant. The state of development, the method of operation, and the various possibilities for the different grades of plant are discussed. These include storage, pre- or cold-batching, drying, hot sieving, batching and mixing and producing with filler and binder. Using electronic driving and control techniques it is possible to adhere completely to specification. To protect the environment noise and dust emittance are reduced. /TRRL/
