GAS TURBINE FUEL OILS SPEC ISSUED BY ASTM
After eight years of activity begun by the ASME Gas Turbine Division, a specification for gas turbine fuel oils has been issued recently by the American Society For Testing and Materials. The publication, which is Part 17 of the ASTM Standards, specifies four grades of gas turbine fuel oils. (These include distillate and residual oils, with limitations placed on certain oil ash elements, to avoid corrosion and deposit formation in the gas turbine.) All of these fuels meet present sulfur content requirements of State and Federal regulations. Available from the ASTM offices at 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103, the Specification is the result of work begun to establish a standard in 1962.
