ROLLS-ROYCE WILL POWER NEW BOEING 757

The Rolls-Royce RB 211-535 Engine for the Boeing 757 airliner is a smaller fan derivative of the higher thrust RB 211 engines now in service. For the Boeing 757 it will be certificated at a take-off thrust of 36,600 lb, but for normal service in the 757 it will operate at a take-off thrust of 33,500 lb or less. It will bring the low fuel consumption, quietness and other operational and economic advantages of large fan engines to the medium-sized airliner market.
