SETTLEMENT AND STABILITY OF EARTH EMBANKMENTS ON SOFT FOUNDATIONS. THE PROCEEDINGS OF A SYMPOSIUM HELD AT THE TRANSPORT AND ROAD RESEARCH LABORATORY, CROWTHORNE, 23 APRIL 1976

The purpose of the symposium was to provide an opportunity to review methods of assessing behaviour of embankments on compressible soils and design procedures to minimise the likelihood of instability in embankments. This report contains the papers presented at the symposium, together with summaries of the discussions.
