LAYING OF PRECAST CONCRETE PIPES UNDER HIGH EMBANKMENTS

POSE DE CANALISATIONS EN BETON MANUFACTURE SOUS REMBLAIS DE GRANDE HAUTEUR

The conventional technique of laying concrete pipes under high embankments leads fairly quickly to inadmissible stresses for standardized classes of strength. After briefly recalling the usual laying techniques and their limits of application, the author describes a new original technique (laying under low pressure). Details are given of the first application of this technique in France and of the results of the tests carried in-situ (geometric deformation and evaluation of the settlement coefficient). This technique proved very satisfactory, extending the limits of use of precast pipes of conventional strength. /TRRL/
