RECENT PROGRESS IN SHIP UNLOADERS

Described are mechanical problems attendant on the enlargement of unloaders and a latest control system, making specific reference to a recently completed 2,500 t/h unloader, which is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Also described are methods to prevent seawater contamination by ore spillage and ore drop from the grab bucket during unloader operation and to avoid environmental disruption by atmospheric pollution due to dust rising from the hopper during operation. Reference is made to automatic unloading operation with sway stop designed to improve the driving system for larger capacity and to enhance operability for higher speed.
