As America's chief maritime regulatory and enforcement agency, the USCG is charged with the mission of protecting lives and property in the waters and ports of the U. S. The U. S. Coast Guard has proposed revisions to its regulations to bring them into par with technological advances, and increases in waterfront activity. The new rules, when passed, will provide for increased personnel responsibility at such facilities, and more clearly define USCG powers to assure their safe operation.
