Manchester plays catch-up with Metrolink expansion

A £201m renewals blitz that includes replacement on 24 km of track on the original Altrincham and Bury lines is a prelude to a major expansion of Manchester's light rail system that will begin in earnest next year. This article describes the background to this expansion, the new vehicles from Bombardier, and work to be undertaken in the future.
