The policy behind the re-assessed and re-designed engines in the beginning of the 1970's is reviewed. A normal crane arrangement with straight lift of pistons can be used for 90-95% of all "K45GF" and "L45GF" plants up to now. The "KG45F" was designed for extra-low deck heights in order to become an alternative for the medium-speed engines. Propeller layout and turbocharger layout are discussed and examples from a pusher tug and a ferry are given. Load diagram for the "L55GF" engine is shown. Order from NSFI as No. 16683.
