The three "Anro" ships, "Anro Tamasek", "Anro Australia" and Anro Asia" were built specifically to meet the needs of the service between South East Asia and Australia. High stevedoring costs in Australia provided the impetus for containerization of cargoes, hence the ship's design with cellular container capacity. Ro-ro facilities were also provided for the carriage of packaged timber cargoes. The o a length is 181.76 M, dwt 16.477, and the main propulsion is by twin turbocharged "Kawasaki-man" 9.152/55a engines delivering 9.495 bhp at 450 rpm. Service speed is 18 knots, range 14.000 miles and the complement 46. General arrangement is included. Order from NSFI as No. 16601.
