NEW STATISTICAL METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF CONCRETE CREEP

UNE METHODE STATISTIQUE NOUVELLE POUR LE CALCUL DES CARACTERISTIQUES DE FLUAGE DES BETONS

To calculate the state of stress of prestressed concrete structures, prestressing losses due to shrinkage and creep must be determined. Existing methods of determining the shrinkage and creep deformations of reinforced concrete structures have numerous disadvantages. The authors propose a method of calculating the deformability characteristics of concrete, using a combination of statistical techniques and experimental designs, and a physical interpretation of the results obtained. Methods of determining standard deformations due to creep and shrinkage are outlined, and a flow chart for studying the deformability and mechanical strength characteristics is proposed. The authors also present a method of calculating the limit creep deformations of concrete and a graphic analysis of the influence of various factors on the creep and elastic modulus of steam-cured concrete. Research workers often want to know not only the limit values of creep but also the deformations at a given moment. These two methods are proposed with this aim in view.
