STEADY STATE EXHAUST MEASURING TECHNOLOGY ON THE ENGINE TEST RIG AND IN THE VEHICLE

The measuring equipment described can be incorporated into a car and thus facilitates not only tests on a rig but also on the road. Almost exclusively steady-state operating conditions occur because of this. Therefore particular attention needed to be given to the dynamic behaviour of measuring equipment. The principles of steady-state measuring technology are briefly explained. An amplitude and phase-related measured value recording, as required by the matheamtical model, was made possible by introducing a corrected network into the measuring chain; this is illustrated by an example. The structure of the measuring equipment - infrared exhaust fumes analyser and fly-wheel anemometer for measuring exhaust fumes quantities - is briefly described. Results of the tests are given. /TRRL/
