Concrete Wear Study

The wear characteristics of concrete using various cement contents and three different sources of aggregates were investigated. Compressive strengths and dynamic modulus of elasticity data were obtained to assist in evaluation of these various mixes. The testing program covered some 342 concrete specimens representing various ages, cement contents, air contents, and aggregates. The aggregates used were from sources readily available and suitable for construction purposes in Louisiana. Wear tests were made in accordance with ASTM tentative method c 418-58 t. These tests show that the wear characteristics of concrete varies with the age, cement content, air content, and the aggregates used.
