EFFECTS OF ROAD SURFACE TEXTURE ON TRAFFIC NOISE EMISSION

The development of road surfaces to give good skid resistance at high speeds has led, in certain cases, to high levels of vehicle noise. This paper discusses the relations between the frictional properties of road surfaces and the consequential noise emanating from the surface.
