Safety effects of variable speed limits at intersections

The principal aims of this paper are to study car driver's different behaviour, experiences and safety effects of variable speed limits when introducing variable speed limits at rural intersections. Variable speed limits have been implemented at six rural intersections in Sweden to increase traffic safety at the intersection and to improve the observance of speed limits. The study deals with different kinds of effects of variable speed limits at one intersection, Fogdarp in the region of Skaane. The study mainly shows very positive effects on car drivers' speed behaviour and their experiences (A). For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD E212343.
