NEW GENERATION OF RO/RO SHIP ATTEMPTS TO ATTRACT MORE CARGO

The roll-on/roll-off method of transferring cargo between ship and shore represents the ultimate in vessel self-sufficiency. Loading and unloading of these ships can take place in the absence of all but the most basic of port facilities. Over the past decade advances in RO/RO technology have taken place principally in the fields of access ramps and internal ramping arrangements. The various types of ramps manufactured are described.
