THREE-DIMENSIONAL BEHAVIOR OF REMOLDED CLAY

The discussers comment on conclusions drawn by the authors on the basis of curves plotted for various values of the parameter b. Remarks are also made regarding the parameters b. It is also observed that, depending on the value of b, the angle of internal friction (phi) varies between 27.4 deg and 34.7 deg, which shows that the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion does not apply to isotropic Gruandite clay. It is demonstrated that for th same value of b, one can obtain different values of the pore-water pressure, different values of phi, and different values of sigma sub 2. In the search for significant parameters to describe the behavior of clay materials where the pore-water pressures play such an important part, the discussers do not believe that b is remarkable.
