STUDIES ON THE PROPERTIES OF ALUMINIUM ALLOY-STEEL TRANSITION PIECES FOR STRUCTURAL TRANSITION JOINT (STJ) OF SHIP SUPERSTRUCTURE

Three types of transition pieces, two of which are produced by explosion bonding and one by roll bonding, were investigated concerning mechanical properties, i.e. tensile, shear and fatigue, and corrosion. The transition pieces had sufficient mechanical properties for static and dynamic loads and good corrosion behavior by proper coating.
