ESTIMATE OF THE ECONOMIC BENEFIT FROM A COMMUNICATION SATELLITE TO OCEANIC AIR TRAFFIC

This paper considers the influence that a communication satellite might have on the capacity of an oceanic air traffic system and the corresponding benefit in reduced operating cost penalty to the traffic involved. The data and illustration are drawn for the North Atlantic, which has the greatest level of oceanic traffic and the most developed ATC system (though the E. Pacific system approaches it).
