SOIL FREEZING METHOD USING REFRIGERATED FLUIDS

Until now, for freezing the ground, use was made especially of compressor units with a brine cooling agent. The temperatures of this brine were minus 20C and sometimes as low as minus 35C. But these low temperatures also had adverse effects such as increases in the viscosity of the solution and possible congealing. As a result, more efficient soil freezing methods are used with refrigerated air at minus 80C and minus 100C in the refrigerator and gas turbines (especially with liquid nitrogen). The article describes these methods in detail.
